Department Of Urology, MPUH, Nadiad/INDIA. Objective - Laparoendoscopic single site surgery has been described in a variety of urological procedures. We present our initial experience of LESS simultaneous bilateral nephrectomy Material and methods:-We did LESS bilateral nephrectomy in a 20 yrs old patient who had ESRD waiting for transplant having recurrent culture positive febrile UTI. We had used Quad port variant of Multichannel single port. The Olympus endoeye TM camera which uses the “chip at the tip” technology with coaxial light cable which reduces the cluttering and clashing of instruments was used. Standard laparoscopic instruments were used. The factors that recorded were operating room time , blood loss , visual analogue score for pain relief (VAS), complications (Intraoperative and post operative), incision length. Result- operative time-75min, blood loss-50cc, hospital stay- 3days, VAS for pain -4 incision length - 4.5cm. No intraoperative complication, postoperative stay was uneventful Conclusion -: LESS approach has an edge over multiport laparoscopy in bilateral simultaneous nephrectomy in terms of equivalent outcomes with added benefit of cosmesis, quicker convalescence and single incision. This procedure appears promising.
